reason: Edward was placed into a situation that made living more difficult for not only him, but his younger brother as well. In their current position, a promising future for the both of them seems somewhat out of reach.

Personality:
Ed is an independent individual, who is slow to accepting the help of others. It's very difficult for him to trust others, and he feels better if he just took care of things himself. He won't blame you or get offended if you treated him the same way. Despite his unwillingness to trust others, Ed is still fairly good natured, and is okay with you if you're okay with him. Ed possesses quite a bit of street smarts and common sense, due to him living off on his own and learning from his own mistakes. He has a soft spot for younger people, and is more charitable towards them in regards to advice and petty offerings (such as a dollar for the bus or a sandwich or something). He tends to feel a bit uneasy if he is not doing anything for too long, as he is so used to working. For this reason, he can't thoroughly enjoy breaks or vacations, unless they're paid for. Ed doesn't like to keep his hopes up, and makes sure that he's in touch with reality.

Ed and his brother were often very distant from their father, who was often away from home for various reasons. His defense was that he was supporting them, and they couldn't exactly complain, seeing as that they practically had everything that they needed. When Ed tried to apply for college, he was unable to, as his father suddenly decided to no longer support him or his brother. Unbeknownst to him, his father desired a life with no strings attached. He felt weighed down by his sons, and bitter towards his ex-wife, whom he believed had "dumped" them onto his care. Ed and his brother were to live with their mother, but Ed didn't want to put any strain on his mother by being in her care. Feeling old enough to look after himself, Ed rented an apartment.

He currently works two part time jobs and periodically receives money from his mother. He in turn sends money to her, but he's almost sure that she simply sends it back. Ed's long-term goal is to raise enough money to get himself through college. If all else fails, he would at least like for his brother to have a chance at molding his own future.

Ed hasn't talked to his father in a long time. He's very bitter towards his current situation, especially since it was out of his control. Since then, he has had a very difficult time trusting and relying on others.

He works at a coffee shop in the morning, and a book store for the rest of the day.
